Invisalign offers an aesthetically pleasing way to correct mild to moderate dental issues, including crowded or crooked teeth and poor bite alignment. It provides a convenient and discreet orthodontic alternative to traditional braces for improving your smile and oral health.
The Invisalign trays are made of BPA-free, transparent thermoplastic, custom-fit to your teeth. The aligners pressure predetermined areas to move teeth into the desired position.

Getting Ready for Treatment
During the consultation appointment, your dentist performs a digital scan to create a 3D model of your mouth. This scan is input into the Invisalign software system and used to map out a treatment program. Your dentist will discuss your treatment plan options and show you how beautiful your smile could look after treatment.
The data is then sent to the Invisalign lab, where your aligners are fabricated.
Getting Your First Set of Aligners
Your dentist will give you your first set of aligners, tell you what to expect, answer any questions you have, and let you know when to schedule follow-up appointments.
Your dentist may put attachments on one or more of your teeth to get the proper force and direction of movement. These attachments are tooth-colored appliances that are cemented to your teeth.
After putting in your first set of custom aligner trays, you may have sore teeth the first few days, which you can manage with over-the-counter pain medication. You must wear your aligners 20-22 hours daily for the best results.
Caring for Your Aligners
Keeping your aligners clean is crucial. Remove your custom aligner trays every time you eat or drink. Brush your teeth and rinse with clean water before placing them back in your mouth. Some foods can stain your aligners if you fail to brush.
Once a day, soak your aligners in the Invisalign cleaning solution for 15 minutes, then gently brush them with a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove any debris. Please maintain your regular brushing and flossing routine to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
New Aligners Every Two Weeks
As your misaligned teeth move, you will need new custom aligner trays to keep them moving. You receive new aligners every one to two weeks, and it is critical to wear the correct aligners. You may experience discomfort the first day or two of wearing new aligners.
You will need follow-up visits with your dentist to monitor your progress, but not as many as are required with traditional metal braces, typically every 6 to 8 weeks.
How Long Does Treatment Last?
Your total treatment time can vary from 6 to 18 months, depending on the nature and severity of your orthodontic issues. Your dentist can give you a more accurate estimate during your initial consultation.
After you complete your Invisalign treatment, your dentist will recommend wearing a retainer to keep your teeth from relapsing to their original positions.
