A dental crown is usually completed in two visits. At the first appointment, you will start by having impressions taken of the tooth. After that, the doctor removes any decay and makes room for the new crown. Once that is completed another impression will be taken and a temporary crown will is placed while your crown is being custom made by expert ceramists at the lab. This visit takes about an hour.
The second, shorter, appointment is scheduled for about 2 weeks later to deliver your permanent crown. At that visit the doctor will remove the temporary and replace it with the final, permanent, natural looking restoration bringing the tooth back to its ideal shape and size and restoring function.
